Developing Critical Refection Skills Analysis

The reading was interesting and also very useful. I thought the way in which the readings talks in detail about how academic skills contribute to effectiveness of the being a counselor. More importantly , it gives you a very detail explanation on how to go about developing these four basic skills, reading , research, writing, and presenting. Furthermore, I liked how it talked about developing critical reflection skills. Developing Critical refection skills is a process that can only be developed if one is investing the time and applying it to practice.

Simulated Assessment Critique This is my critique for my simulated assessment for clinical skills. My clinical skills procedure was assisting with feeding, a skill that is essential in ensuring that patients are getting the right amount of nutrients needed to recover. The Malnutrition Universal Screening Tool (MUST) (BAPEN 2003) is used in clinical areas to assess the nutrition needs of each individual, by using their body mass index (BMI: weight divided by height squared), whether they have lost any unplanned weight in the last six months and whether or not they have an acute disease which could cause loss of appetite the MUST score determines how at risk they are of malnutrition. If a patient has a high score using MUST then they should be…

I will first start out by introducing the person I will be discussing in the second part of this mathematics project to finish up the semester. I am going to introduce, my hard-working, dedicated, and loving fiancé, Melanie. Melanie is tall, blonde, and the prettiest girl that I know. I personally chose her because I have seen firsthand the amount of time, effort, and sacrifices she has made to get to the point in nursing school that she is at now. I don’t tell her this enough, but I am so proud of where she is in life and the amount of work she does on a daily basis to accomplish her goals.…

Hello Ashli, I enjoyed reading your informative post. I agree with your position that there are many key competencies that are essential for school counselors to possess. The key competencies that you suggested as crucial are the overall competencies as described by the American School Counselor Association’s (ASCA) school counselor competencies (ASCA, 2012). These competencies are what a comprehensive school counseling program is made of. If a counselor lacks these competencies they will not be able to deliver a comprehensive school counseling program as outlined by the ASCA model (ASCA, 2012).…

Critical thinking is a clinical break down process in nursing. As a nurse, I am able to recognize complications, as soon as they arise, ask questions, and collect enough information in order to support my practices and effectively communicate the findings to other healthcare workers and departments. Working on a medical-surgical-telemetry unit has been quite the experience for me so far. I find that a great communication tool is bedside reporting. Our report tool is called PMSL, which stands for pass me safe lee.…

Critical thinking is the disciplined art of ensuring that you use the best thinking you are capable of in any set of circumstances (Elder & Paul, 2013). The critical thinking ability of health care professionals can have a direct effect on patient safety (Robert & Petersen, 2013). The process of critical thinking in my opinion was not used by the RN in this scenario. Patient centered care was not given and patient priorities were not established such as patient's new onset of nausea (Harrington & Terry, 2013). Also, the RN showed poor decision making along with poor problem solving, by offering to give the patient more pain medication.…

Critical thinking applies to nearly every aspect of my patient care and patient assessment. The nursing process mirrors a lot of the critical thinking process. Having problem solving skills is just one way in providing a high level of patient care.…
