Schooling around the world is different from place to place. Everyone from different places seems to have a different idea of what education should be for example more/ less tests or different teaching strategies. Retired actress and now writer Deva Dalporto found her interest in the Finnish school system.Being a mother of two, she became interested in her kids future education which ultimately drew her to this topic. Lauren Mack, a writer and graduate from Florida Atlantic University and Columbia University, has been studying for years the way that the Chinese school system runs. After completing studies at Colorado University and New York University, Erin Skarda has make appearances in many magazines and articles including …show more content…
“In the finnish school system, there aren 't a lot of standardized tests.”(Dalporto 2) this allows students to have more time to study on their own and participate in activities outside of school. China follows this method. This is just compiled on top of everything else that is going on in my life. School work has always been a top priority in my life and so I always work hard to complete the tasks given to me. This means that I have less time to get my other priorities done. For example, on Monday nights, I go out driving with a driving instructor because I am working to get my drivers license. When I get home from this, I eat dinner and work on my homework. Sometimes I am up till eleven o 'clock at night trying to finish what I have to do. According to The National Sleep Foundation, “Teens need about eight to ten hours of sleep each night to function best.”(NSF 1) If I 'm lucky I 'll get seven hours. It is said that sleep can influence health and brain activity meaning that with students not getting the right amount of sleep, they may not be learning in the most productive way. I agree with Deva Dalporto when she says that “Students should have less homework and more time to be kids” (Dalporto 2) because giving kids more time to themselves and not to be shackled by school work will give them more time to explore and have adventures giving them a broader view of the world and possibly a career they may want to take on in the
