Appearance and first impressions are everything. The speaker is dressed for the occasion he is wearing a suit and he is well groomed. He is dressed in a way that shows that his topic is important and serious, which makes the audience respect him more. The speaker starts his speech off by bringing up the topic of golf. He humors the audience by saying that golf is an awful sport. He then involves the audience by making them applaud. He uses this topic of golf and connects it in with the topic of his speech. The speaker refers to golf and states that people find things of interest, in order to connect it with other objects of interest and make it better. Then he turns to the audience and rhetorically asks them a question, which gets them thinking. Detz explains (2007), “Write your own introduction. Leave nothing to chance. Write your introduction so you're "branded" most effectively. Since each audience is unique, each introduction should be different. Some speakers rely on generic introductions. Don't be one of them. Emphasize aspects of your background that a particular audience can relate to” (Detz, 2007).

They can’t sit around waiting for something to happen, but they have to go out there and do something. It will take hard work and dedication to get what they want, but doing the same thing every day and staying hidden behind someone else is not getting them any closer to reaching their goals in life. They have to get their ideas out there no matter how different or weird they may be to people, they may fall down and be judged for it in the beginning, but later on they will be glad that they did
