The doctor said it was very unlikely that he would ever be able to move his hand again, but thankfully he received the joy of being able to move it again on his own. Another example takes place on a fatle day when Desmond skinned his knee, badly, on a sharp cliff. He didn’t want to worry his mother, so he kept it a secret until the third day after the accident when he couldn’t get out of bed. The doctor said that he would either have to die or amputate the leg, but there was one more option. Every two hours they would have to change a hot towel on the wound and again he was gifted with his life and leg. They prayed to god a lot and wanted to become seventh day adventists, but they were alive during the great depression and it would be hard for them to find work so that they wouldn't have to work on Saturdays.
