Kate Chopin was an American author of short stories and novels , Her important short
stories included "Desiree’s Baby " . The short story takes place in Louisiana in the mid-
nineteenth century . The story talks about a foundling girl named Desiree who was
adopted by Monsieur and Madame Valmonde . Desiree was loved by the son of a well-
known family , Armand . As a result , they married and had a child . Abandoned as a
baby , Desiree was accused by Armand that she was the underlying reason for the
