Macbeth, written by William Shakespeare, is the story of an admired leader ruined by desire and greed. Macbeth, a Scottish general, and his wife plot against the people who love and care for them after they discover their prophecy through the witches. Throughout the story, you can gradually visualize Macbeth turning from an admired and confident person to a malicious and dark character. At the beginning of the play, Macbeth and his lady were very close. This is supported by the how he referred to her in his letter, "My dearest partner in greatness (Shakespeare 1:5:11)", when he told her about the witches' prophecy. She was like his best friend; his greatest confidant. This was their relationship at the beginning, but then, you see that it is not Macbeth’s ambition that ruins him, it his wife’s.
Lady Macbeth is power hungry and manipulating so she used Macbeth machinations, therefore making him infected with this dark conscience. After the murder is committed, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth begin to almost switch places. Macbeth keeps secrets from Lady Macbeth, such as Banquo's death. Lady Macbeth becomes the one who is unstable and unsure right to the point where she goes insane because she cannot handle what she has done. Macbeth becomes evil and dangerous, confidently deciding to kill whoever might distract him from his goal: supreme power and riches. “The raven himself is hoarse that croaks the fatal entrance of Duncan under my battlements. Come, you spirit That tend on mortal thoughts, unsex me here, And fill me from the crown to the toe topful Of direst cruelty!(Shakespeare 1:5:38-43)” To summarize, Lady Macbeth isn't sure there's enough manhood from her husband, so she begs for someone to "unsex me here." Macbeth was too hesitant and submissive in the situation and she believed that she didn’t even have a man for a husband. This is her way of asking to be stripped of
