Our responsibility as a society should be to ensure that this technology is only applied as a medical treatment for those truly in need of it. Elected committees consisted of members voting on by the public and by the scientific community could pass laws governing the technology’s application and they could oversee the industry as a whole to ensure that ethical standards are not violated.
