Back in the 50’s there was a lot of things going on such as the fear of communism becoming. Also, during that time period it was post war of World War II. Many of the topics being covered during that time was about those two major topics. The only problem with that was that the news and radio stations weren’t giving the full facts of what was going on. Next, a big thing back in the 1950’s was the westerns. Most of the tv shows back then like GunSmoke and Bonanza had a western type of theme. In these shows television gave the Indians a bad look. But, the people had to first recognize what was happening in the media. Essentially that they had to start thinking for themselves instead of letting these instruments think for them. In the speech Murrow said something along the lines that television news and radio has mixture of business, advertising and news.
