I believe that I deserve to receive the Doris J. Dressler Scholarship for this upcoming academic school year. Knowing that I have not always been the smartest person when it comes to academics, but I always have tried to give my best in my classes. I know that I need to work hard in my classes especially now that as I enter my last academic school year. I feel like I am a good candidate for this scholarship because, as a senior, any and all money earned and received will help me ease the burden of attending college. I believe that I deserve the “Courage to Grow” Scholarship, because I’m very determined and take my education seriously. Both during college and high school I faced a series of obstacles such as living at a women’s shelter at the age of sixteen, the death of my grandmother and cousin my freshman and sophomore year of college, and attending counseling for emotional abuse and a risk for developing an eating disorder.
