I dove into the chilly water and immediately felt the rush. I looked around waiting for another splash. Once I heard it, I turned around and swam towards the other body. It felt like I was in slow motion, gliding through the water. Once I reached my mom, we started our descent down to 50 feet. I got to the bottom of the oceans floor and dug my hand into the ground. There were shells everywhere on the bottom of the floor here, nothing surprising about these beautiful waters that surround the Bahamas. I swam to the choral and picked up a small piece, about the size of a golf ball. I grasped the choral in my hand and held onto it tight. I did not want to let go of that piece of choral even though there were thousands like it below me on the ocean

June Jordan 's account of her vacation in Report from the Bahamas brings up many of the social issues facing the world in the 1980 's, many of which are still unresolved today. Jordan brings up a womens fight for rights, freedoms, and desires which emphasis that her report is based on her concern for women. Factors of race, class, and gender are constructed through June Jordan 's accounts of social structures in the Bahamas in 1892 along with connections to her own past experiences as a black woman. “Put some meaning into your words,” said my chorus teacher as apathetic faces and idle mouths stare back at him“ A folk song of this magnitude should not be sung with such a light heart”. My ears tune into the dissonant voices surrounding me slowing interpreting the lack of passion already evident to my teacher. Subconsciously, my eyes and head slowly move downwards trying to shield themselves from the wave of indifference flooding my class. As I open my eyes, I am met with the gaze of the words boldly printed on my sheet of music - Wade in the Water. My thoughts are delayed as the urgent words capture my attention only to be interrupted by a piece of my reality.…

For our vacation, Jalyssa Rivera and I chose to go to Barbados, an eastern Caribbean island, known for its beautiful beaches and warm climate. With the cold temperatures we’ve been experiencing here in Wisconsin the past couple of months, we thought that a place like Barbados would be nice for a change. We’ve planned our vacation to be 8 days and 7 nights long, from Friday, March 30th, 2018 to April 6th, 2018, during which we plan to take a break from the cold Wisconsin weather and instead fly to Barbados and enjoy what the island has to offer. We’ve also managed to stay within the $6,000 budget. The total cost of our trip will be $4,034, which includes $1,211 for our hotel; $1,420 for our flight; $115 for a shuttle to take us to and from the airport/hotel; $700 for food; $860 for activities; and $328 for a rental car.…

The Bahamas is a nation that is highly dependent on tourism. Hence, the government of the Bahamas has undertaken extensive marketing to attract visitors, to its warm climate, the beauty of the beaches, followed by the diversity of hotel facilities. According to Dean W. Collinwood, "Since the end of world War II, tourism has become the unchallenged engine of the Bahamian economy."
