Zoho Evaluation

Using a Zoho email account is a very generic process almost no different than other email service available out there. I began with creating a Zoho account which can be done directly from www.zoho.com. Zoho advertises itself as an “operating system for your business”, and they do truly have some good email tools that can be used for marketing. They have several different suites of accounts, you can have business accounts that you pay a subscription for and buy in bulk (like more than one account at once). Or you can have a personal account which is free but has more limited features. You go to the website you click on create a personal free account and you enter your desired email name and password along with your first and last name. One major difference was noticeable however. The difference is the fact that another email is required in order to setup a Zoho account. I tried creating a Zoho email without giving them another email however it was no possible. When I did give them an alternate email address they emailed me a link in order to confirm my account. However before I did confirm my account I did run into a little problem in the form of sending an email before confirming my account. I tried to send an email before confirming my account and it insisted that I use my other email in order to confirm this one. When I did finally confirm my account and it actually said I confirmed my account and I tried to send the email again it took a good two or three refresh button clicks for the email to actually send. They have a feature called stream which I did not delve deep into however the feature appeared to be some kind of newsfeed that you can post onto and it operates in some kind of twitter/chat room from the nineteen nineties fashion. Other than that it had the standard sent, spam, and sorting folders and features. Nothing too special on that end. One special feature did arise however, I discovered it using a mail tracking client. Mail tracking clients can be browser extensions that track where an email was opened from and when it was opened. They are popular marketing tools and good to have when applying for jobs, the way it works is there is a pixel with time and location settings. When it loads the email source or sender gets a notification that the email was opened and if the laptop or device that the email was opened on has location settings activated it essentially sends the information back to the source. Very simple and elegant but very dirty. One way to avoid is to not load images in the email, if that setting is activated sometimes some email trackers are confused. Zoho email however is not traceable even when image loading is turned on. I tried to trace three emails sent to my newly created Zoho account to no avail.
