As the sun rose on the horizon its gleams lit the waves of the ocean. The waves were very gentle that morning. As I progressed with my vacation at Cancun, Mexico I decided to take a quick run across the shores. While getting ready, I felt a tight squeeze in my lower stomach. It was such an unordinary sensation that I was going through and I was not able to understand exactly why I felt this way. But without minding these situations, I got dressed and headed out the door for a morning jog. The weather was perfect, sunny with just the right amount of wind. The wind blew against my pulled back hair. With all that peace, there is always something wrong and that’s when I realized something very unusual far deep into the ocean. An enormous size of …show more content…
The tides were growing larger in size, giving me more anxiety. I was already so close to the water that I knew I wouldn't make it back to the room in time to escape the waves. My heart was beating fast as woodpeckers pecking on a tree. Suddenly, there it was, a huge wave rose above of me screaming its fits of anger. The waves washed me out. I was pulled out into the ocean. When I woke up I was surrounded by many people that I’ve never seen before. The sight made me very confused. That's when I realized I was on another island. The people surrounding me looked very strange. They all dressed very differently from what I've seen before. Wearing native clothings with strips of red drawn on their faces. Someone in the crowd introduced themselves to me and welcomed me to “Hokuwa.” Hokuwa was an island far away from the shores of Cancun, Mexico. They helped me get settled down and told me how there were massive tides in the ocean due to the weather changes that had been occurring the past

I attempted to open my eyes, but I soon regretted it as salt sprung to my pupils and gave it a sharp painful sting. I came up for another breath. It was a less inhalation than before, but it served its purpose as a breath. Another deep dive underwater led me to feel the sand with my hands. I dug them deep in the speckled ground, and slowly clawed my way to shore.…

This week’s readings discusses different aspects of the Mexican war. In “Mexican Views of the Mexican-American War discusses the origin of the war between Mexico and the United States, it states “To explain then in a few words the true origin of the war, it is to say that the insatiable ambition of the United States, favored by our weakness, caused it”, the weakness that it’s referring to is the Mexican government. Like we discussed on Thursday, Mexico has always had a chaotic government that contributed the loss of Mexican land. It can be lead to think that if Mexico had a secure government, the loss of the land wouldn’t have happened. Mariano Otero’s “Considerations Relating to the Political and Social Situation of the Mexican Republic in the Year 1847” relates to the previous reading because he explains the Mexican government and weak army contributed to the loss of…

One place I would visit is Cancun Mexico, because you can snorkel on the second largest reef in the world, swim with dolphins as well as other sea life, and for adults Cancun has the of the largest nightclubs on the Yucatan peninsula. Many American families visit here every year. Cancun’s white sand is made from crushed coral from the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System. First and foremost, there are many things to do in and around Cancun. One of the most common “excursions” is when you go to Isle de Mujeres just off the coast and swim with dolphins.…

During April of 2015, I stepped out of the car and onto the beach for the first time in Destin, Florida; the salty sea stung my nose as I breathed in a refreshing breath of briny air. The first step onto the sand was like a bed of blankets; soft and comfortable. The way the white sand glided onto my feet and squished between my toes felt like heaven. The waves were singing a delicate lullaby, pulling me closer to them. As I walk towards the ocean with the warm sand beneath my feet, the cold waves lap at my ankles, as if they want to take me away.…
