Descriptive Essay: The Joy Of Playing Soccer

“Goal!!!!” The roar of the crowd is the best sound. Hearing them chant your name. If you ever scored a winning soccer goal in the last two minutes then you know how I feel. Beautiful kick and perfectly flowing right into the corner of the goal. Now that’s what you call perfection. Knowing you are the star of the game is the best feeling. Enduring until the end is the way to go for all sports. Just because the game is almost over does not mean you can’t win it. You’re in it to win it so endure till the alarm sounds. That’s what i did.
It didn’t just magically happen. I thought the game was over when there was six minutes left. Then i looked at the scoreboard and i didn’t feel right. The score was not how i wanted it so i needed to do something

I slide tackle, get up and quickly trap the ball with my foot. Looking down the field, no one is open. So many kids but there is one opponent for everyone of my teammates. I feel trapped. I look at the scoreboard and see that there is now three minutes left. “Looks like this is up to me”, i think to myself. I start moving the ball around one kid, then another, next thing i know i am at halfway marker. Putting the ball smoothly through other players. I move up into the goalie box. My heart is thumping. The fans are nervous and not ready for what was about to happen, and neither was I. Somehow the ball flies through the air and into the corner of the goal like a bullet. I couldn’t believe it and neither could the fans. I have won it. I won the game for my team and I.
I learned a valuable lesson through this game. Don’t give up if you think it’s over. Give up when it IS over. Endure until the end and there will be a reward. Don’t give up until you win it. I could’ve given up when there was six minutes left and we lost the game. Instead, I kept going. We ended up winning 3-2. I will never forget this lesson and I hope you won’t

The majority of my lacrosse career depended upon my natural talent. With little work, I could coast and still outclass the majority of my teammates. That is, I could until I was pushed onto varsity as a sophomore. Instead of getting the steady playing time I expected, I was only permitted to enter the game when things got out out hand. Frustrated, I asked my father what I could do to earn a reliable spot on the field, and he told me that if I augmented talent with practice and outworked the rest of my teammates, there would be no reason for Coach to keep me off the field.…

My steps inched closer to the ball until my plant foot reached the left side of the ball. In that moment, every sound turned to nothing, my kicking leg swung forward in slow motion, and feeling of my own heartbeat felt as though it was about to beat right out of my chest. The contact with the ball and my right foot was weak. My own knowledge of how to properly kick a soccer ball had skipped out of my mind. My foot skimmed over the top of the ball, causing it to slowly dribble to the right side of the goal.…
