As I enter the arena I hear the crowd chanting. I can see both teams warming up before the game. As I sit on the bench, I can feel the soft texture of cotton as I start to tie my shoe-lace. I start in my position as tip-off starts. My teammate gets jump ball and the ball is in my hands. I feel rubber as I dribble towards the net while hearing a ball bouncing on the court. I shoot the ball and it goes in! I have the ball once again as I pass it to my teammate and he scores. Half time is about to come as the period is about to end. As the period ends I can hear the crowd cheering us on. I am feeling a bit nervous - the sensation of butterflies in my stomach. The game is about to start and we’re losing 36-32. With the ball grasped firmly in my hands, I dodge swiftly around the players of the opposing team and make a shot at a slam dunk. Much to my utter delight and relief, I succeed and the ball goes in! My score is met with an uproar of excitement from the enthusiastic fans. The opponent now has hold of the basketball and makes an attempt at a shot, but as he’s shooting, I skillfully block his shot and gain possession of the ball. I shoot and I score! From the sidelines, my coach nods at me with an encouraging smile - he looks extremely impressed and this ignites a burst of energy within me. There’s only twenty seconds remaining until the game ends and the opposing team has possession of the ball. Unexpectedly and much to our agitation, they score the basket! The score is now 38-36. Unfortunately, our team is losing. There are only ten seconds remaining and I have possession of the ball. I can feel a wave of pressure hitting me. I only have two seconds to decide whether I should take my chances and score a three-pointer to win the game, or score the almost guaranteed two-pointer to tie the game. I take the three-point shot. Time seems to slow down. I watch the ball swish into the net and my ears are met with the blare of the buzzer, signalling our win. The crowd erupts into excitement and
