Narrative Essay On Hidden Acres

I’m gonna take you back to when I was in 4th grade. If you think I’m obnoxious now just be happy you didn’t know me then. My parents send me to this wonderful camp every year called Hidden Acres with my friend Bailey Sterk. When I was younger I remember being so excited to go I would try to make my mom help me pack a month in advance. I would go to sleep thinking of all the glorious times I had at camp in the previous years and the friends I made. When the day finally arrived I was one riled up child. Bouncing from wall to wall, and room to room. Check in wasn’t until 3 but of course I tried to make my family leave at the crack of dawn so I could get there in time to snag a top bunk. My Father, Mother, Bailey, and I all piled into our Toyota and started our tretuous hour drive to Dayton where my only worry in the world was if I packed my goggles or not. Once we were on Hidden Acres soil you better believe I tucked and rolled out of the car and sprinted to the Family Life Center door where checked in was held. “Black is strong”, “Black is Beautiful” It’s hard to feel pretty when you’re living in a country where the majority race is white. Most things are tailored to white people which is a hard concept to grasp during these times because when we think about racist times, we think about the 1950s and slave times. We don’t want to believe, but let me tell you racism is alive and well.
