We all know the famous rocks that stand by themselves on a circular format. Yes I 'm talking about the Stonehenge that are located by Salisbury England. The mysterious structure on why it was built and how it was built with those large rocks. Research say their is many reason why the Stonehenge is built. One of the main purpose I heard is the rocks where structure in that circular format in that particular way; it was to capture the sun and people will know what time it is in hour, day, month and season by the shadow the sun creates.The Stonehenge served as a calendar. The Stonehenge is out in the open having all this place to stand. For the large rocks it was tended to be outside and between the rocks line up they have a gap or space. It was intended for the rocks to be separated in a certain kind of way giving them space throughout the circular format. The Stonehenge has a diameter about ninety eight meters plus the ditch around the Stonehenge is about six meters to. The Stonehenge is surrounded by a bank and ditch but their is space between them in a circular form. The space was needed between the rocks to capture the shadow the sun gives so the ancient civilization can tell the time as it was a calendar for them. From the book of A Global History of Architecture it states that the Beaker civilization change the structure in 2500 BCE. They added more stones that are rectangular shaped to the architecture.
