When I first arrived at Sherwood Mall, around twelve o’clock, and throughout the stay, I saw teenagers who varied. One of the teenagers who I saw was simply staring out to the outside. It seemed that she was waiting for somebody. She would occasionally get on her phone. However, she was not the only one on her phone: a male teenager, a couple tables away from her, was also on his phone. On his neck, appeared to be some dark markings. After a few moments, a girl came to talk to him, and he showed her something on his phone and started to laugh. Thereafter, they walked away. There was an elderly man with a young teenager sitting together on the other side of the food court, and the teenager rarely talked to the man; rather, he remained on his phone. This time, another girl, who appeared to be the original girl’s friend, appeared. Now there were two girls and four guys. In addition, there were two older individuals: a male and a female. Next to me, a female teenager with acne was sitting next to an older lady. Although the teenager was not on her phone, she was mostly silent. On the corner of the food court sat a group of three male teenagers. One was wearing a red hat, a red shirt, and a gray sweatshirt; the other one wore a black shirt with jeans; and the last one wore a blue sweatshirt. Mainly, there would be a conversation where two contributed, and one would be on his phone or eat his food. For instance, the red shirt teenager remained silent while the blue sweatshirt individual spoke to the black shirt teenager, and occasionally, the blue sweatshirt individual remained taciturn while the red shirt individual spoke to the black shirt teenager. On the 25th of September in the year 2015, my mother had given me a form of transportation along with my friends to the Cross County mall located at 8000 Mall Walk in Yonkers, NY. At the Cross County mall, we stopped at bus 25 and examined four women and three males, two of which had headphones in and taking pictures of the herbs. Once we got to a pretzel store, Auntie Annie’s, there was an elongated line in which we had to wait in since we were famished after not eating in school. When we received our food, we had noticed that all our orders were incorrect, causing us to consider the location untrustworthy. After we ate, we had a seat on the nearest bench, which is where most of the observation took place.…

The first thing I noticed when I walked into Jasmine Middle School was how big the eighth graders were. I knew that in middle school the sixth graders would be the babies, but it was still kind of a shock at how big eighth graders really were; well, at least I hoped the kids I was looking at were eighth graders. If the group of kids hanging out by the lockers were seventh graders, then eighth graders must be huge. Luckily, after looking around for a few seconds, I spotted my best friend, Georgina Larson by the water fountain. She’s never hard to find, because her hair is light blonde, and she’s always wearing really flashy outfits.…

It’s the calm of the morning, and I’m tired. The smooth and curving edges of the trail entertain my eyes as I hike towards my goal, the summit of Mt. Hyndman.
