What is an Onsen?

The onsens were used as public baths for Japanese people but nowadays there are many private ones and it’s also a tourist attraction for foreigners.

My experience

I went to one onsen in Nagoya called “Ozone No Yu”. Ozone-Cho, Higashi-ku Nagoya 28-7 Higashiozone. You can take the subway Purple line called Meijo Line and get off in the Ozone St.
If you visit Nagoya this one is a good option. I paid the entrance fee and rental towel. Also you can rent a bath outfit to be around the public areas. The total cost is around ¥1000 per person and you can stay unlimited time.

There are some exceptions but you need to check the rules from the onsen you are planning to visit.
You cannot drink or eat inside the baths. If you are planning to stay long time you can get out anytime and crab a bite and have some drinks at the restaurant in the common area.

I was unconfortable at the beggining and I felt shameful, but after a while your mind and your body understand the concept and soon you start to enjoy the new experience.
