Short Story: Haunted House On Maple Street

Everyone in Inman, Kansas said that the house on Maple Street was haunted. Nobody really knew that for sure though, until one day a boy named Noah decided that he wanted to be the first one to explore the house. That’s where it all began…. Of course, his friends, Sam and Thomas, told him it was a bad move. They made him promise not to do it. But of course on the way home from school he thought to himself: Who doesn't want to explore a haunted house? So he took a little detour down Maple Street. After that day he was never seen again, and eventually everyone gave up looking.
That is everyone except Sam and Thomas. They knew the house on Maple Street was to blame for the disappearance, but they were simply too scared to go. Until 3 years later

Noah, how do you say ‘prisoner escape cell seven’ in Gusiom?”
Seconds later all the prison guards were rushing down the hall to stop the fake prisoner, who escaped from cell seven.
“You’re right they are dumb,” Sam said to Noah.
“Yup. Dumb as a rock. But we still need to bust this lock somehow."
“Ah, thats where I come in,” Thomas Replied.
He pulled a paperclip out of his pocket. Working fast, he took the paperclip and picked the lock in less than ten seconds.
“What? Who carries a paperclip in their pocket?”
“Actually a lot of people do, but I can’t quite recall how this little guy got here... Oh right. I do believe I put this paperclip in my pocket a couple months ago at school. It’s probably been through the washer a few times,"
Sam and Noah were sniffling giggles.
“ Well, I guess I’m glad you did that,"
Silently, the boys made their move.
The three hid in the shadows of the prison, staring across the street at the ranks of guards, towering like statues.
“Man, how will we make a diversion for this?” Thomas whispered.
As if to answer, a messenger came up, said something, then ran off with the entire army.
