Basketball Shoes Essay

One of the most memorable things I have are my all red Derrick Rose Adidas basketball shoes. These shoes mean a lot, for they represent a whole season of basketball. A whole season of my last year playing aau basketball with girls I grew up with. The shoes remind me of all the games and practices that we had together. Every free throw, every jump shot, every layup, every three-pointer I ever took in my last season. All the memories I made with my team. Remembering all the crazy things we did at restaurants, all the amazing times we had the hotels we stayed at. All the games that got hype and so intense that you could cut the air with a knife. The first day I got the shoes was the first day of practice for aau. I really liked the shoes. The all …show more content…
The shoes felt good, they had great traction. I love shoes that have good traction, I feel that I can move faster. The practice went well. We did a lot of full court game moves, scrimmaged half court, worked on full court press, and ended on free throws. We also got a new pair of socks with the shoes. The socks were nice too. The best game we ever played in those shoes was in April. We were in Texas for a big tournament. Our coaches told us that our game schedule was ugly. The people who are in charge of the tournament always do us dirty in Texas. The organization who helps set up the tournament has a team of their own. They are called Texas Elite. Our first game was at 10, and we played one our rivals. We hated the team with a passion because they were good and their players hacked all the time. We came out with the win, but we worked harder than we needed to. Our next game was against Texas Elite top team. Their first game was easy they blew the team out by 40. We have never played Texas Elite before, but we knew that their top team was extremely good. They were expected to win the tournament. Which means they were also expected to

Connecting this back to the Air Jordan 1s, I remembering seeing a Converse commercial that featured both NBA Hall Of Fame stars Magic Johnson, and Larry Bird in the documentary. In the commercial they used logos to show the two great basketball players having their own signature shoe and that idea relates back to the Air Jordan 1 because it also was a big key factor in the birth of the sneaker culture. Putting this all into context, Magic, Bird, and Jordan were all big contributors to helping the sneaker culture becoming as popular as it has ever been today. In the documentary, they also talk about how some people have a love for collecting these shoes and how they can have a bright future with their passion of sneakers.
