After a long day at boxing practice, I was exhausted because it was a training day. Were in late December snow is falling and Christmas is around the corner.I packed my bags and got ready to go but I didn't see my dad there. Usually, after practice my dad comes to pick me up most of the time. If he wasn't able to come he always gave me a future notice when he dropped me off. This was the first time this had ever happened so I wasn't mad even though I could barely stand. I gave my dad a call after waiting about ten to fifteen minutes he told me something came up and forget then he went on to apologize. He told me to ask my brother if he could pick me up so I gave him a call he sounded exhausted when he answered he told me

As I got into the car I remember asking him if he was okay he didn't reply. He started to drive off and I was scared because he just got his license like five month ago and it was his first winter he was driving and on top of all of that he is falling asleep while driving. I told him to take a nap before he started to drive because it is a twenty-minute drive home. He replied saying no I'm fine.

As we get onto the highway my heart starts to sink to the bottom of my stomach. After a couple of minutes, I started to trust him behind the wheel. He did better than I expected. I thought it was going to feel like a valley fair or a six flags roller coaster. As we gradually get close to home my heart adjusts itself back into the correct position. I was very surprised how good he drove in the snow for his first couple of times.
Were about five to fifteen minutes away from home and my brother start to speed and we arrive around this corner and he started to speed more and he lost control of the car. He was struggling to get the wheel to respond the floor was ice so he lost traction. I was screaming super loud I was scared for my life. We were in a residential area so there are home around and kids playing in the snow. As we were screaming and yelling in the car my brother was trying to avoid hitting the houses and the kids so he drove the car right into the

The norm may not always be the right way to go. I no longer want to be a part of a popular or important group of people, if I feel that what the group is doing or believes in is wrong, even if it means I'm not a part of the norm. I am not afraid to stand out on my own. I have challenged this belief for many years. When I was in elementary school, I was bullied by a group of girls that I hung with, looked up to and idolized.…

On September 9th, 2016 I was a passenger in rear-end car accident. At the young age of seventeen, I was ignorant, rebellious and negligent. At this time, I honestly believed that I knew it all and was always in the right; I would ignore anyone trying to guide me towards the right path or give me advice. As in the short story “Rain of Fire” by Evan Thomas, I would have never expected that a regular day could end up in such catastrophe. I learned not to trust those whom I have not gotten to know well enough.…

My brother Lester was first diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia at the age of sixteen. Paranoid schizophrenics often have false delusions and auditory hallucinations, causing them to see things-people or objects that aren’t really there or to hear voices no one else can hear. It’s difficult for schizophrenics to differentiate between their illness and reality. For the most part, they can’t. It was hard for my family to accept the diagnosis, but we learned to deal with it.…
