Houseboats are fun, memorable and affordable places to stay in Amsterdam. If you're used to sleeping on boats, then you know how relaxing the soft rocking of a docked boat can be --if not, you're sure to be pleasantly surprised. Always book your houseboat reservations early, as the number of rooms on the vessels is limited, and they sell out quickly. Marie Anne's Houseboat Marie Anne's is around 10 minutes away from the Central Station and the rest of the city, but the short walk, or even shorter bicycle ride, is a small trade-off for the quiet and secluded atmosphere. The boat has two bedrooms, each with a safe deposit, a television, a radio and two double beds that can be pushed together or pulled apart. The shared kitchen offers a microwave, …show more content…

Come night time, retire in the queen size captain's berth. As if that wasn't romantic enough, include sitting in the heated spa on a star filled night or relaxing on the house boat's covered deck. During the months of April through October guests may enjoy a swim at the marina's heated pool. The marina offers the convenience of a grocery store, laundry facilities, gift shop and a deli that serves up delicious fresh baked pizza. To further enhance your experience rent a boat or take a plane ride over Pleasant Harbor. If you like fishing, reading and generally lazing around then a houseboat holiday could be just the answer. We have had several and cant wait to go on the next one in a couple of months. We stock up on a week's food, the niceties of life like chocolate and liquor, fishing lines, bait and take off for a week. If money is tight one of the beauties of these holidays is that they are a fixed cost. No extras being spent on retail therapy or extra dining and wining. Once you are on the boat that is it! We have found the boat hirers to be so well organised and have all the information you need. The boats do not go very fast so you don't feel threatened by speed. If you drive a car you should be able to handle a houseboat. Holiday Experiences The first holiday we had was a long weekend and we cruised up a river, stopping close to an island with a local hotel. Without realising it, there was a country and music festival on at the hotel that weekend, so we were able to listen to live music all weekend. That was just great as we enjoy country music. What a weekend, sun bathing, fishing, boating and delicious meals. The second holiday was for a week and what a week it was. When we took off it was a little bit rough and raining quite heavily. It was suggested that we take the boat up a smaller river for the night and sit the weather out. We thought this was a good idea, so off we went and anchored by 4pm. It got a bit rough and was wet enough that

The scene from the film On the Waterfront takes place inside the cargo hold of a cargo ship. A ship un-loader named Kayo Dugan has just been murdered and Father Barry has been called to say a prayer for Kayo. The scene is rich in the elements of Mise-en-scéne. From the costumes worn by the priest to the suits worn by the union leaders, we see a stark representation of the difference between good and evil. As the sun shined against the green turf, it left heat, fumes coming off the CBC football field. A low humming noise creeped onto the field as the cars flew by on Highway forty. The students walked around the track after the Red Devil’s coach called a timeout midway thru the second half of the game. As one of the Cadets cruised down the field with his hair flying back behind his head the roar of the crowd sounded like a tornado siren. His fellow teammate screamed, “Here, here” while swinging his right arm above his head because he wanted the ball possibly to place a shot on target, or to look for an open pass to penetrate the defensive line of the Red Devils.…

“The Boat” by Alistair MacLeod was able to show the pressure that parents place on their offsprings in a very relatable manner. His words were able to capture, in great detail, a child’s train of thought and how they would act when placed in a very difficult position. The narrator had to decide whether he should follow in his family’s tradition and become a fisherman or stray off and continue his education. As a student about to graduate in less than a year's time, I am able to relate with the son. With thoughts concerning the future, different occupational paths to follow, and grades to keep up, this is a very stressful year for me.…
