Lauderdale Elementary school has a running competition every year for 5th grade students. Two students will be selected by principal, Mrs.Newman, to see who can run a mile the fastest. Students will have a week to practice with their coach, Coach Ledoux, in order to win the competition. As students were in class, the announcements came on. Students didn’t pay close attention until Mrs.Newman said, “We’ve finally got our votes for the 5th grade competition” The students leaned closer to the speaker. “Dylan Brasher and Chase Hamilton! You have the chance to compete in this years competition! After school, please make your way to my office to get more details. Have a nice day, Lauderdale!” The class cheered for Dylan since nobody really knew Chase. Chase didn’t mind competing, but he realized who he was competing against. The most talented, hardworking, and coolest kid in 5th grade! …show more content…
He started by running around the block a few times until he got tired. The next day, after school he ran the mile in about 10 minutes. Chase felt proud of his improvement, but it still didn’t beat Dylan’s time. At school, Coach Ledoux saw his improvement, and complimented Chase. Chase begins to feel confident in the competition. On Friday afternoon, Chase ran the full mile at home in under 7 minutes! Chase was proud of all the hard work he has done. He was excited for Monday’s competition. Monday morning, Chase woke up knowing what was gonna happen that day. The competition wasn’t going to start until 12:00pm. That morning, as the students were in class, the announcements went on. Everyone waited vigorously to hear about the competition. “ Dylan Brasher and Chase Hamilton are ready to compete in our yearly race! We are excited to see who wins the big prize!” Mrs.Newman announced on the intercom. Everyone was so excited to watch the competition! Chase was feverish to show everyone his advancement running the
