“How was the ride, Mr. Lane?” “I think the lights are dead.” “And the door?” The doorknob slowly rolled behind me. “Still in place.” I regained clarity in my vision and realized something. It was the same man from before. The same man with the ugly nose. “Wait, how’d you get--” He turned around and walked away with two hands behind his back. I didn’t have anywhere else to go, so following him was my best bet. Walking out, I noticed that we were now on city streets again, under the sea of grey smoke that has swallowed the world whole.
