Descriptive Essay: Dewmont Lake

It was a crisp summer day and I was laying on the sandy beach of Dewmont Lake. The smell of sweat and sunscreen was in the air and it was a scorching hot day. So I decided to go in the water with my friends Callie and Emily. We splashed around in the lake and played all sorts of games with each other and with our other neighbors who were at the lake with us. One of my favorite games was chicken fights and I got to say Emily and I were pretty much the best team out there. You would have thought that they would wait for the numbing medicine to kick in but no. He just started stitching me right up and I could feel the needle protruding into my skin over and over again. I screamed with every stitch and a waterfall of tears flowed steadily down my face. Needless to say, the doctor still wasn't getting the hint about waiting a little bit longer. As the minutes went on and they medicine began working a bit more I started to calm down. And there must have been a lot of blood because when I looked over at Callie her face was as white as a

It began as a normal day for me, a volunteer, at Northside Hospital. I delivered the food orders, filled the supply room, and took calls with the nurse at the nurses station, but towards the end of my shift, I was instructed to take a patient downstairs on my way out. The burn from pushing the wheelchair traveled up my arm; it felt as if something was holding the wheelchair back as I propelled the wheelchair into the elevator. An Unforgettable Weekend at Raystown Lake Two years ago was my first ever cabin camping experience. Before that, I enjoyed staying at home and every once in a while I would take a hike with my father. I mainly felt that the outdoors was a place that I would only like to travel to on occasion, instead of being a place that drew me in. As a result of these prior thoughts, I became anxious at the thought of traveling to a campground nearby Raystown Lake. The week leading up to it, that’s all I could think about.…
