Breaking The Curse From it’s origination in 1901, the Boston Red Sox has always been one of the most iconic professional baseball teams, even winning the inaugural 1903 World Series (then as the Boston Americans). The crisp breeze rustled my hair as I walked out of my house on the fall September day with my dad drilling instructions into my head. It was my first Little League baseball game ever, and my dad wanted to make sure it wasn’t my last. Being seven years old and never touching a baseball was something that had scared me; a lot. I had no idea what to think about this foreign, petrifying, game could possibly be about. The car ride from my house was only a few minutes away from the fields where I would begin my baseball career.…

I hadn’t seen many of my friends from the team over the summer, soI got to see my friends from the team one last time. For me, it was the last time I would be in front of this crowd as a Wildcat because the next week I was moving to Clinton Mississippi to play baseball at the college level for the Mississippi College Choctaws. As the athletic director started walking down the line of players and handing them there rings, I thought back on how awesome my story in the game of baseball is and how much this game has taught me. When my ring was handed to me, the excitement of another ring and finally a true sense of ownership of it was the icing on the cake but this cake was 13 years in the making. As my ring sits on my desk, to everyone else in the world, it is simple piece of metal that is hard to get.…
