The sweat flowed down my face onto the gleaming wooden floor. My hands on my knees, I was breathing heavily after our second game was over. I was at Southwestern High school playing in a life-changing basketball tournament. My teammates Cooper, Carson, Blair, and Clay were extremely exhausted after the first two games of the day. We had won all our games so far, but now we have to play the number one team in Kentucky this was fifty five and one. They had allstars on their team the absolute best at every position. For example their center was an all american football player that played on a team that was sponsored by NIke. He was about six foot three and weighed about two hundred thirty. I, on the other hand, was about six foot one and weighed …show more content…
I shook hands with my opponents and went to the middle of the court. I bent my knees as the ref was telling us the directions and it started the ball was up and they grabbed it right out of the air. They started off on a 10-0 run, so we called a timeout. At that moment no one listened to the coach we all had the same feeling and knew what we had to do, after the huddle we huddled up as a team without our coach and I said, “Do you want our season to end like this? Do you just wanna lay down and get killed by this team or do you want to step it up and show them what we’re made of.” My teammates and I all wanted to win. We weren’t gonna give up on the game no matter what. We came back and scored five points, but it was seeming like all the calls were going for the other team, almost all our players had at least one foul. The game seemed to be very uneven and we ended up getting beat by about 8. We all had our heads down and were so disappointed. Then one of the opponents dads approached us after the game and said,” We haven’t had a game that close in a long long time, but good game fellas we play you first thing in the morning.” The bracket had worked its way out to being we play them in the first game. We all went from being sad and upset to infuriated and ready to play them

The first place team that happened to be our school’s arch nemesis, had selfishly kept the ball to themselves so far. Every second we had possession was precious as we knew the opportunities to score would be few.…

At some point in every person's life, they will have a special experience that will stick with them forever. One of my most memorable moments happened recently at a home volleyball game against Traverse City West. Approaching freshman volleyball season, the upperclassman spoke highly of the importance of overpowering TC West. As a ninth grader, I had the mindset that I would be playing for the freshmen team. I didn't think it really mattered what the outcome of the game would be, since we were only ninth graders.…

We had already beaten them this season five to one but this time we were playing on their field. Their field was a very small one and myself and many of my other teammates could've kicked a ball three-quarters of the way down it. This did not benefit our playing style, we were a team that was at the top of our class in passing and spacing. We ended up losing this game three to two, but for some reason, we weren't down after.…

Monday’s practice was the worst of the week, we only ran and shot free throws.…

I used to be a shy and quiet girl but since joining the summer camp I started to socialize and have friends. After two months of learning basketball, I began to like it. Then, I started playing basketball in high school as part of my school’s team and I’ve been playing ever since. It started out as just an activity, and then became a hobby that’s something fun to do but later on, I found that I really like basketball.…
