Many American families believe that SeaWorld is the best family vacation spot with its many parks all over the country. A typical visit to SeaWorld includes petting dolphins, visiting the aquarium, and being splashed by a majestic Orca. While SeaWorld may seem family-friendly, it definitely is not animal friendly. The tourist attraction, also known as SeaWorld, tortures its animals by ripping them from their homes and families, placing them in pools that might as well be bathtubs. Although families enjoy taking a trip to SeaWorld, they would feel a lot differently if they knew about the constant pain and torture inflicted on SeaWorld’s animals.…

For many, associating characteristics to their pet is natural, but people rarely associate this kind of behavior with large animals. For Mick Menago, a boater in San Francisco, an experience with a humpback whale would change his perspective of the emotions that a large creature could experience. In the documentary, Ric O'Barry remarked that dolphins are extremely sensitive to sounds and, “you realize after a while they don't really belong in captivity”. People do not acknowledge this because superficially, dolphins always put up a smile. Over time, it generates a semblance that they are always blissful. But Ric O’Barry could always see straight through the dolphin’s feeble deception of gaiety. He could always see just how downtrodden, despondent they truly are.…

Like many people, I have shared many great experiences with family and friends at marine parks. Aside from the really expensive food, these parks appear to have nothing wrong with them. However, people have yet to see beyond the stage and question how they get these large animals in the park. For over half a decade, marine parks have…

Whales Whales in captivity is a horrible thing because the whales are separated from their familie, are forced to perform in front of screaming audiences, and they can act out and hurt humans and each other in small spaces. Male orca whales have collapsed dorsal fins. When there in the wild there dorsal fin stays straight up. When there in captivity there dorsal fin collapses. This is most likely because they are cramped up in a tight place so they can’t swim freely.…

Recollecting to my childhood memories, I remember the trips my family and I took forth to Seaworld. As a child, I admire the polar bears and penguins behind the glass, the splashing of Shamu’s tail towards the splash zone, and the ride of Journey to Atlantis. I never really thought about if the killer whales in a big concrete pool were happy at such a young age. Now, there has been a big controversy on the captivity of the marine mammals, especially the killer whales.…

Killer whales should not be forced into captivity because of the orca's intelligence, what conditions are needed in order for orcas to be happy, and the lack of education that aquariums like Seaworld provide. For example, the director of the movie Blackfish responded to claims that a Seaworld trainer made about the issue of whale capacity. The trainer stated that “we as humans should not differentiate based on the intelligence level” and the director came back saying “the evidence on animals intelligence in level in captivity proves that the higher the intelligence the more negatively the social structure is impacted”. The director is saying that claims by Seaworld are ludicrous because highly intelligent predators need to be in the wild in order to live the healthiest and most enjoyable life. Furthermore, the director of Blackfish…
