All pet owners share one characteristic, their love for animals. The similarities pretty much end there as peoples’ personalities and behaviors differ based on what pet they own. Most people choose a pet that reflects themselves and that they can enjoy their activities with. Well over half of the people in the United States own a pet; however, the personalities of these people differ drastically based on the type of pets they own: dogs, cats, exotics (small mammals, avian, amphibians, reptiles, etc.), or no pets. The most common pet is the dog and many people in the United States have at least one dog. Exotics are unusual pets that are thought of as wild and are kept in human households; for example, when you think of a snake, you don’t think of a pet at first but rather a snake in the wild. People are drawn to exotic pets because of their unusual attributes or wild appearance. Since exotics are unique, owners feel that an exotic pet expresses their individuality better. Exotic pet owners are very adventurous, like their wild animals, and tend to take the risky path of life. These owners look for an interesting pet that almost no one else has because they love the challenge and educational experience of learning the particular behaviors of their exotic pet. In addition to their interest in learning about the unusual animals, exotic pet owners may be one of the most dedicated pet owners because exotic pets require specific living conditions and possibly extra supplies, not to mention more expensive vet visits. While there are some people who get exotics just to seem cool and boost their ego, the majority of exotic pet owners are caring people who have an affinity for the unusual and can see the beauty in something that is generally looked upon as
