Descriptive Essay About My Prince

Improved Essays
I met my prince long before I recognized him to be so. He was not a prince when I first saw him, and even months later. He was the frog from the fairytales that is always there but never considered important. I had no attraction to him, or desire to build a connection with him. How did we meet? I entered high school at 14 and there were suddenly new peers differing from those whom I had grown up with through elementary. There was a new amalgamation of students, either new peers to become friends with, or new peers to dislike. There was one boy who I absolutely hated. He was the class clown, always disruptive, and for some reason he always chose to bother me. Just my luck, he was in all of my classes and I was stuck with him everyday all day …show more content…
Proximity provides a sense of familiarity that leads to liking. He slowly changed from the frog, to my prince hiding in plain sight. I began spending more time with him and getting to know him inside and out a little piece of information at a time, building intimacy. Our similarities became apparent in the movies we liked, the sports we enjoyed, and our free-like goofy personalities that bonded us. Growing more alike and connected over time. We even looked very similar. I remember when we were out and about we would be asked if we were twins. I wonder now if it was solely do to our close resemblance of each other, or the similarity in our behaviors. We would make jokes how maybe one of us had been given up for adoption and were a truly a long lost sibling. According to Wade, Tavris, Garry, Saucier and Elias (2016) the similarity effect influences whom we will …show more content…
There are multiple components as to why this is. Similarity causes attraction as it lowers chances of rejection and often offers more enjoyable interaction if those are similar to you. This is because if someone is similar to you their worldviews and opinions are more likely to validate our own, providing social reinforcement. It had been months of getting to know each other and I experienced a whirlwind of emotions when with and away from him. It had become official, I was his girlfriend and he was

Primate Communication Human beings are primates, as are monkeys, and great apes. Observing our nonhuman primates it wouldn't take long before one would notice the behaviors of the nonhuman primate as being very similar to a human's behavior. A person may observe similar facial expressions, physical movements, or interactions with another nonhuman primate that could strengthen a person's confidence in knowing there has to be a connection in evolutionary history between the nonhuman primates and humans. Ape-like gestures can often look very human to us at a very basic level such as shaking the head to indicate "no" or begging for food with an open hand. Although a nonhuman primate will not execute an actual complex language such as English…

As I started this journey into the world of people watching I was immediately drawn to people who appeared to have similar traits as myself. As an observer, I would be remiss if I did not attribute this mostly to social comparison. Having grown up with several situations that shattered my confidence in social relationships at the most pivotal stages in child development I look for people I can compare myself to. I find people that share similar personality traits or characteristics that way I do not feel any negative emotions when I compare myself to an extremely extroverted person.…

The development of theory of mind (ToM) in children involves the ability to recognise the guidance of behaviours by mental representations that may differ from external reality (McAlister and Peterson, 2007). The gradual development of ToM is marked by specific periods of rapid growth that coincide with cognitive developmental periods between three to five years of age. False belief understanding is recognised as a marker of a child’s fully developed ToM, whereby the child is aware that someone will act in accordance to his or her subjective belief, even if it is incorrect (Peterson, 2000). Explicit evidence of a child’s false belief understanding can be observed through False Belief tasks, designed to test the child’s ability to anticipate…
