Mark Twain once said, “Names are not always what they seem.” Whether you share a name with tons of people or virtually no one in the world there’s always some type of history behind it all. I was given the name Hermino which is a Spanish derivative of the ancient Roman name Herminius. Like many people I am the namesake of elder relatives (my grandfather and great-grandfather). In spite of being the namesake of my elders there is not exactly any tradition behind the names only parents who felt that it was right to name their kids after old Hermino.…

According to Grandpa Donnie, it all began in 1759 when Jacob Voils, his wife, and his four sons landed in Port Charleston from Wales. Jacob was a poor man and could not afford the family’s way to Charleston. Desperate, he made a deal with the ship’s captain to indenture his oldest son William Voils as a crew hand for four years in exchange for the family’s way. Alexander the Great seems to have been a man who relished in the excesses of life. Not only did he lust after wealth and lands, but also he sought after deification and absolute power. With regards to "With regard to bodily pleasures, [Alexander] enjoyed perfect self-control; where pleasures of the mind were concerned, he was insatiable only for men 's praise", this statement is misleading and most likely Arrian stated such only because of his admiration of Alexander (Arrian 7.28.2). Alexander commonly was drunk when not on campaign, and he continually wanted to expand his empire regardless of what his own men thought, which indicates that Alexander was not solely focused on the praise of men, but rather focused on his own personal greatness,…

Who am I? A question that would made you think well and might puzzle you out. Describing yourself is harder than describing someone because there are some areas in you that you are not certain of such as characteristics, personalities, and attitude. I always have to think about what I should say to make a good impression on whomever is asking me the question. There is a lot about me that you can see by just looking at me; I have short brunette hair, I’m short, hazel eyes, I’m quiet, and more. However, there are certain personality traits about me that every single person I know on a personal basis can tell you; I am candid, I am shy, and I am very loving. I am candid and by candid, I mean I am always very truthful and frank.…
