Christopher Reeves once said,“A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles.” We all have a different definition of a “hero”, yet there are so many variations. Usually, our mind darts to “superheroes” like Wonder Woman and Iron Man, but true heroes are significantly more. They don’t wear capes or armor, but are uniquely draped in compassion and tenderness. My hero- my mother - has the armor of the Bible bound around her body and rises every morning, just to have a drink of God’s word. A woman who has inspired me to battle through the hard times that strike me down and a mother who has nurtured me, since a young child, to sprout into a tree of compassion. My mom is just an

Meanwhile, during the summer of 2016-2017, gazing at her everyday, bring comfort and bliss, to the once lone seniors. Every day she would serve a meal to seniors at a senior center site, her work, yet she served much more than just a meal. Traditionally, you would conclude that at these sites you would see seniors fooling around sometimes when playing a game (just like big kids), interacting with each other, manufacturing a new friendship, and much more. In the meantime, my mom shared a fragment of a difficult puzzle- which was her life- with the seniors. From time to time, she would discuss and inform them about what God has done in her life. On one occasion, my mom spoke to a woman -who was distressed about her marriage- and my mom, through Christ, gave her hope and assurance.This shows me that even if you don't save the world, you can save someone else's world. Another instance, while working at CPCC, she struggled with her co-workers who seemed to take advantage and ridicule her. Above all, God has given my mom these hard times to bring her into a state of being a warrior of God's kingdom and faith in him.
Michelle Holshouser is a name that will never go down in a history book; however, she will go down in my history book as my hero. With this said, every time I whisk around I seem to find something to be inspired by; every moment that passes I seem to yearn more and more to be like her.
