Descriptive Essay About My First Concert

Decent Essays
On Wednesday, December 16th, or as I like to call it, one of the best days of my life, I had the privilege of attending my very first concert. I went to go see The 1975 at Club Nokia in Los Angeles, California. All of my friends knew about my infatuation with the band, due to my annoying habit of gushing about their music all the time. So last year on the 8th of September, my best friend gave me the concert tickets as a Birthday present. I had been looking forward to the concert for months, and when the day finally came, I felt both nervous and excited to go see one of my favorite bands. Their first song I ever heard was called “Medicine.” It was two in the morning and I was driving to Arizona. The sky was pitch black and glistening starts …show more content…
Upon arrival we decided to make a few stops before heading to the venue. We decided to do some shopping at The Grove. Being the huge book nerd that I am, I of course had to convince my friends to come with me to Barnes and Noble first. The bookstore smelled of delicious coffee brewing and freshly printed books. It was pretty quiet as I scanned the aisles and made my way to the Science Fiction and Fantasy section to look for a book my little sister had asked me to buy her. Unfortunately, they didn’t carry that particular book, but I still walked out with two or three Stephen King novels. Afterwards we ate lunch at The Cheesecake Factory and then we went to Sephora where my friends and I all got a free fifteen minute makeover for the concert. Later we stopped by a gas station to stock up on water bottles, chips, and all kinds of unhealthy junk so we’d have something to snack on during the long wait we knew was ahead of us. Finally, we decided it was time to drive to the venue where the concert was going to take …show more content…
Suddenly, I heard groups of people screaming and noticed that they had finally caught a glance of Matty Healy, the lead guitarist and vocalist. Suddenly pink and blue lights began to flash, the audience’s excited screams began to escalate, and before I knew it, the entire band took their place on stage and commenced the best concert I’ve ever been to. I couldn’t believe that I was finally listening to them live, it felt like a dream. Hit after hit, they played all of my favorite songs. Every lyric of every single song was sung right back to Matty as he sang them out. They began to play their hit song called “The City” and it was evident that everyone was hooked from the moment the first chord was released into the audience. Matty, the vocalist and lead guitarist, was wearing an opened floral shirt and he was dancing terribly, but somehow, it was endearing, and as he pranced around like a fool, the tone for the entire rest of the show was set. Next was “Heart out,” another one of their most popular songs, and I was astounded. Matty’s vocals, the audience dancing and singing along, everything about it was perfect, it sounded even better live. But my favorite part of the entire concert was toward the end, when they began to perform their most emotional songs. They performed “Me,” a song off of their first album which clearly meant a lot to the lead singer, it was a slow song

Concert Etiquette When attending a musical performance, there are different sets of rules that accompany certain types of concerts. Most of the time these rules are unspoken and typically general knowledge, with the exception of classical music concerts where pamphlets may be given out or picked up ahead of time. That being said, there are many limitations of how one should conduct his or herself at a performance. During a classical music concert, the general principle is to be polite and good mannered as to properly accompany the style of music. Dress code isn’t entirely formal, but a good guide as to what you should or should not wear might be what you would wear to work or out to dinner with friends.…

We were going to hear them sing, to us, and it was amazing. When you think about seeing someone in concert you think about someone you have been dying to see. The night before we left for Shakopee, I studied the bands, what kind of music they played and what they sounded like. Very few of them became favorites, as I am very picky the kind of music I listen to. I was scared because I was still fairly new to this, but by the end of the night I wasn’t scared…

The concert was presented by University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Department of Music’s UNC Jazz Band on Saturday, October 10th, 2015. The concert venue was located at UNC Kenan Music Building’s Rehearsal Hall. It started from 8pm to 9.40 pm. Compared to all the other concerts that I have gone to, the UNC Jazz Band concert was a definite change in atmosphere as it was a large band consisted of students. The stage was set up really well and has a nice lighting.…

After the drive we reached our hotel and unpacked our things and had to get ready because the concert was in the afternoon. The day of the concert was 7/16/15. I was not used to the big crowds of people. Thousands of people in such a small area all to see some random dudes playing instruments and singing. Crazy is the only word to describe it.…

Tickets were kind of difficult to get because it was so close to the concert, but they were some of the best seats I’ve ever had at a concert. We didn’t feel like finding a parking spot at the Moda Center so we decided to take the Tri-met, which was my first time ever on it. It was a lot nicer than the one in Arizona and we laughed and talked about our day. We got there about 45 minutes before the opening act, Slydigs, began and she bought…

For my concert critique, I went to Jason Terry’s Doctoral Piano Recital on Tuesday, December 1st at the School of Music in room 206. Because Terry was able to pick the pieces he played, he picked a range of different pieces to emphasize his wide range of talent. He included older and modern pieces including Bach, Godowsky, Balakirev, Zorn, and Liszt. The first piece he played was “Prelude & Fugue, BWV 872” composed by Bach. I was a little unsure about the nature and form of this piece because it was unlike some of the more structured pieces we listen to in class.…

The first real jazz concert that I saw was a Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola. Now this may not be one of the most ideal spots to listen to jazz but it’s still an experience I will never forget. I attended one of the late night sessions which began around 11pm. The featured musician that was going to play was Josh Bruneau. After some research I found that Josh Bruneau is a fairly new jazz musician.…

On Tuesday November 15 2016, we had our very first concert of the year, our jazz concert which was called Jazz It Up. Many people were impressed not just by the 7th graders, but also varsity voices and us 8th graders. We were all great on our songs, and I especially liked the 7th graders songs. Mrs. Hjelm was amazing as she always is when she directs us and when she is our teacher. As always though a few things needed to change.…

The Hall is very charming with its high selling that contains thick dark brown carved wodden beams that covers the intire ceiling and gives warmth to the room.…
