As humans, we have the ability to love. Love is hard to explain, but for my whole life, I have been told that I have so much love to give, especially love towards animals. One animal that I love very much is my dog, Lola. Lola is a pure bred Rottweiler and her story begins with the end of our former dog, Maggie’s story. Maggie was a rescued Rottweiler and when she passed, I, along with my family, wanted another female “Rottie” in the house. Unfortunately, months of searching left us with nothing. Rescue groups were too strict with adoption requirements and local shelters weren’t getting any Rottweilers in. I quickly was losing hope, but then, we got Lola. It was my eighth grade year. I was at home, probably multitasking with my …show more content…
Can you meet me outside with some cleaning spray and paper towels?” my mother asked.
“…Yes… What exactly do you need cleaned in your car?” I asked her back curiously.
“Uhhh… I just spilled my drink. Okay I am almost home. Let me go,” she replied back.
“Okay bye…” and with that the phone call was over. I instantly became curious as what she had in her car, because I just knew it was not her drink that spilled. I grabbed the cleaner and went outside and then my mom pulled up. She opened the door, and there was this four-month-old, black and brown, Rottweiler puppy giving me these remorseful puppy eyes. Next to this puppy was a huge vomit from her getting carsick. It was indeed disgusting, as it was remnants of some off brand and horrible smelling dog food. “Where did you get her from?!” I asked with excitement.
“From a backyard breeder,” she said.
“What?!” I replied.
“I know we didn’t want to support breeding, but this pup was actually rescued. The breeder hadn’t given the puppies any vaccines yet at four months old, they lived in the yard with no shelter, in the dirt, and this puppy has a Urinary Tract Infection. We saved her,” she …show more content…
She loves her family and will do anything to protect us. Lola is playful too even though we can’t go for walks or go play fetch, we can still play and have fun. She is loyal and very well trained, however she does have some least desirable traits. For starters, with a big dog comes a big appetite. Lola eats anything and everything, and I really do mean that. Along with the big appetite comes a lot of gas. Her gas can be heard from anywhere in the room, and the smell… oh the smell is horrible; worse than rotting eggs. Lola also barks, a lot. She barks at every little noise she hears, and it’s great because she is protecting us, but her bark is extremely loud due to her size and it gets annoying after the first five barks. Despite all of this, we all love very much. These few things make us upset, but there is just more to her to love, and I wouldn’t change it for anything because I know one day, I will miss all of
