Descriptive Essay About Moving To America

As far as I can remember, I was living on a quiet and peaceful street in China with my other three siblings and my mom’s parents. That area was a residential area, so, it was pretty clean and quiet, not to mention my house was at the corner. The street was clean from garbage; there are a few trees on the street, and it was always calm and quiet like the countryside. I went to school every day in my grandpa’s car and played badminton after school. I really enjoyed the sceneries of the river by my school, the image of seniors training hard in the badminton center, and the silence in the neighborhood. Though everyday seemed the same, it would soon change.
Several years ago, my family decided to move to America. As a young innocent child, I had always thought that America was a great place without even knowing what a continent is. I was really excited to hear that our family is moving to America, a place which I’d only heard of. I imagined it to be a place with many foreigners and tall buildings with all kind of beautiful decorations. Unlike my Chinese neighborhood, the street must be large, beautiful, and prosperous. My grandpa, who was kind to us at the beginning our arrival, started to curse at us once our parents left America. Grandpa would curse at me whenever I did anything, even just walking past him. Once he said to me while laughing, “Hey, do you know how much your mom and dad earn? It is me who pays for all the bills. Do you seriously think your parents can even feed you?” Now, I know that he was scaring me at that time. However, to me at the time, it was unbearable. I quickly walked back into my room trying to relieve myself from the pain, but mainly the fear of his words. The stress from school and family had been driving me crazy. I only wish that my parents were there to defend me or at least comfort
