Church Camp
My favorite place in the whole world to go to is Bluff Springs Campgrounds in McDavid, Florida. I have been going to church camp there for over ten years now, and it will always hold a special place in my heart. No matter what is going on in my life at the time when I arrive at camp, all of my worries fade away. Bluff Springs Campgrounds is more than just a regular camp site, for it is a place where people of all kinds go to escape from the busy world we live in.
I always know that we are close to camp when the paved, smooth road turns into a red, dirt one. The excitement inside my body grows and grows from then on, and I get all giddy from the inside out. When our church bus halts at a stop, I know that we have finally arrived. All of the campers are required to a swim test immediately after we all unpack our belongings. The swim test takes place at the heart of the campgrounds: the lake. Whether it’s time for a meal or the fiery heat becomes too much to handle, the Dining Hall caters to all of our many needs. One thing that will not be forgotten is the type of food served, for it is not the most flattering to the taste buds. Another exciting part of the week is an event called the “Messy Games”. From slip ‘n slide bowling to smashing a pie into someone’s face, the “Messy Games” are nothing short of fun. The talent show is an event at camp that allows every and any one to share their gifts. Each cabin and dorm are required to be in the talent show, and the talent can be whatever they choose it to be. Most of the night consists endless fits of laugher until we cannot breathe and tears are running down our faces, and the mouth dropping hidden talents from unknown
