The Palace, known as Alhambra, is located on al-Sabika, next to the river Darro and in front of Albaicin and of the Alcazaba in Granada, Spain. The Palace was called Alhambra due to its rose-colored walls.
The Alhambra has a view over the city and the meadow (la Vega). Considering this element we can tell that other buildings were already present before the arrival of Muslims. The compound is bordered by ramparts and with an irregular shape. The Alhambra is limited due to its surroundings that are the valley of the river Darro, with the valley of al-Sabika and with the street Cuesta del Rey Chico. The Cuesta del Rey Chico is located between the proximities of the Albaicin and the gardens of the Generalife, placed on top of the Hill of the Sun (Cerro del Sol).

The hall was so called because of two enormous ‘twin marble flagstones that are part of the floor.’ This hall was located in the middle of many other chambers the sultana and her family lived. Boabdil's mother also lived there with her children, after being disclaimed by Muley Hacén.
This magnificent hall was built by the command of Mohammed V. It is ‘square, has interlacing ceilings and bedchambers connected with the Emperor's Chambers (Habitaciones de Carlos V) and, through a balcony, with the Gardens of the Partal (Jardines del Partal). Visitors may access the hall through a semicircular festooned arch, where the original wooden doors are still preserved. A passageway leads to the high chambers, with ceilings carved in the 16th century.
