Historical introduction

The Palace, known as Alhambra, is located on al-Sabika, next to the river Darro and in front of Albaicin and of the Alcazaba in Granada, Spain. The Palace was called Alhambra due to its rose-colored walls.
The Alhambra has a view over the city and the meadow (la Vega). Considering this element we can tell that other buildings were already present before the arrival of Muslims. The compound is bordered by ramparts and with an irregular shape. The Alhambra is limited due to its surroundings that are the valley of the river Darro, with the valley of al-Sabika and with the street Cuesta del Rey Chico. The Cuesta del Rey Chico is located between the proximities of the Albaicin and the gardens of the Generalife, placed on top of the Hill of the Sun (Cerro del Sol).
The first official statements on Alhambra date from

The hall was so called because of two enormous ‘twin marble flagstones that are part of the floor.’ This hall was located in the middle of many other chambers the sultana and her family lived. Boabdil's mother also lived there with her children, after being disclaimed by Muley Hacén.
This magnificent hall was built by the command of Mohammed V. It is ‘square, has interlacing ceilings and bedchambers connected with the Emperor's Chambers (Habitaciones de Carlos V) and, through a balcony, with the Gardens of the Partal (Jardines del Partal). Visitors may access the hall through a semicircular festooned arch, where the original wooden doors are still preserved. A passageway leads to the high chambers, with ceilings carved in the 16th century. Three little arches, with mocarabes on the lateral arches and arch scallops on the central arch, lead to the mirador's chamber.’ You can admire at the Patio of the Lions (Patio de los Leones) from

History lead up to all the ruins being what they are today. What is ironic is that some sites in Spain don’t always end up being what seems typical such as running with the bulls, or flamenco dancers, but in fact some places in Spain may seem out of the ordinary. The Alhambra is one unordinary but unique place, which has a very long and rich history for tourists. In the passage “Why Take the Time to Visit the Alhambra in Spain?” by Janet Conners, it states Granada, Spain. Back in 889 the Alhambra was built as a small palace, which unfortunately didn’t last long after its making, and was soon abandoned, with only a little life left.…

Based on the archeologist Jorge Guadalupe Gastal, one of the main architectures is known as the “Pyramid C.” Pyramid C is the fundamental sight because it is the largest structure covered with five taluds and its alignment to the other buildings in proximity, such as the smaller figure, of Pyramid B. Both of them are orthogonal to one another creating a ninety degree angle, and were both built around the same time. However, Pyramid C is the most damaged structure, where much of the stairway has been destroyed. It was most likely covered with relief panels. In order to highlight the monumental architecture of the Pyramid C, it was flanked by two other buildings that were separated by passageways.…

The room itself was grand and ancient, with walls of rough hewn stone, polished granite floors, and a ceiling as high as ten men. There were eight long tables, the shortest on a raised dais along the far wall, and seven more set orthogonal to the first and extending to the entry. Sheaves of wheat and sprays of spring blooms adorned the walls, and cornucopias spilled fruits, nuts and candies onto each table. There were dancers, at least a dozen of them, draped loosely in silks of gold and rich green, ribbons of fabric that swayed as they swayed, dipped as they dipped, and fluttered about them as they spun. Along walls and in corners, on tables and among revelers, they danced in time to a rhythmic tune—singly and in pairs and trios, all moving with an agile grace, seducing guests with limber acrobatics and inviting smiles.…

The next stop on our tour throughout Spain is in Segovia. This small city may seem like it doesn't have much and is painfully out of the way, but it does have a massive piece of history that absolutely cannot be missed. Not only does it have an ancient Roman aqueduct, but the ancient town of Segovia is also home to an enormous cathedral, a fairytale castle, and most importantly to me it is the birthplace to many very important quintessentially Spanish dishes. The town is so chock full of history that in 1985 the entire old city of Segovia and its aqueduct were declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. Just a few hour drive from Madrid, Segovia feels like a different world.…

Nebuchadnezzar II is well known for building sanctuaries committed to Babylonian divine beings and for changing Babylon, the capital of his domain, into a superb city. The Processional way, which was a noteworthy street utilized for formal parades, was cleared with vast stone pieces and kept running from the waterway to the royal residence complex and the passageway to the city, the Ishtar Gate. The door had four tall towers that spoke to the city's quality, and encompassing the course prompting the entryway were dividers brightened with blue coated blocks transposed with turquoise and gold shaded blocks with pictures of gatekeeper lions and winged serpents. Queen's house, designed by architect Inigo Jones was the first pure classical building in Britain and brought a revolution into the architectural scene. Inigo Jones was inspired by his travels in Italy and especially his second visit in 1613 where he visited major cities and buildings and compared theory with practice, from then on his style of architecture took a new form. I want to explore the originality of Queen's house, how much of the design came from Inigo Jones the architect and how much came from Inigo Jones the posthumous sponsor of Palladianism, as he is often referred to. Andrea Palladio is often seen as the main inspiration to building Queen's house and Jones took his treaties 'I quattro libri dell'architettura' as an architectural…
