Descriptive Essay: A Career As A Para-Professional Assistant

• Ruby along with her para-professional assistant enters the reading class at 10.15 am. She walks quickly towards her desk and sits in her chair. She starts humming a loud sound “aaaaaaa, eeeee, oooo” and rocking back and forth in her chair. Other students walked in the classroom and sat in their seats. The teacher stated the topic “Special Olympics” and began to review the vocabulary words with the whole group. Ruby is seated in her seat and laughing loudly and rocking back and forth in her seat. The para professional puts her finger on her lips and states to Ruby “be quiet”. The teacher does not pay attention to her. She began loudly making sounds “aaahhhhh, bhaaaaahhhhhhhhhh, hhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaa”. The teacher looked at Ruby and put her finger on her lip (non-verbal). She stopped making sounds. She ran to the door, opens it and runs outside into the hallway. The teacher and para-professional briskly walked towards her. Half way in the hallway and stops. She looks around the corridor and then put her hands on her pants and pulled her pants and underpants down to her ankles. She laughs loudly and begins walking in the corridor. The para and special education teacher give her verbal instruction to pull up her pants. She laughed and walked around the hallway. The hallway had to be closed to all students and staff. She took baby steps and slowly walked the para-professional with her pants down and pushed the teacher. The teacher immediately put her hands in front of her and loudly said “STOP. NO PUSHING”. She them looked at the para-professional and with baby steps walked towards the door that lead outside the school. The para-professional quickly walked towards the door and held the door close. She pushed the para with both her hands and tried to run outside. She wandered in the hall for 30 minutes. The teacher stated that we cannot leave till you pull up your
