Description The Subway diet is the weight-loss plan created by Jared Fogle in order to prevent obesity, especially that in children. Fogle was an obese college student when he traded in his habit of eating traditional fast food for a lifestyle where he ate strictly at Subway. While a regular cheeseburger at a competing fast food restaurant will contain around 14 grams of fat and not do much to fill you up, a 12-inch roasted chicken sub from Subway will contain around 10 grams of fat and satisfy your hunger much more completely. Supposedly, when Fogle went on this diet, he was only consuming healthy subs, water, and oven baked chips and he happened to lose a tremendous amount of weight.

Jared was getting around 980 calories per day, but it was recommended that he consume 1,200 calories per day to stay healthy. A person who consumes less than 1,200 calories per day could miss out on nutrients like iron, calcium, and protein. In addition, the calorie restriction could cause the dieter's metabolism to slow. You should ask your doctor if your body can handle this diet before trying it for yourself.

Is exercise recommended? Exercise is strongly recommended with the Subway diet. Fogle advised prospective dieters to find an activity that they enjoyed. He liked walking, and regularly walked 1.5 miles. After reaching his goal weight, Fogle continued to walk and also participated in activities like the Heart Walk, an American Heart Association fundraiser. If you plan to go on the Subway diet, you should find an exercise routine that suits you and you should participate in little activities that are a better choice for your health such as taking the stairs instead of an elevator.

Are any famous people advocating this diet? This diet has caught the attention of many celebrities such as Michael Phelps, John Cena, and even the cast of the Muppets. As a result, this diet has gained more and more popularity and is being chosen by many who are trying to lose
