A. A description of six assessment methods.
Broadly speaking, there are two assessment methods i.e. formal and informal assessment.
1. Formal assessment measures the learner’s achievement. For example, case study, essay, report, examinations, tests and projects to name but a few.
2. Informal assessment helps to know the students’ progress and performance. For instance, discussions, peer and self assessment, quizzes, role plays, worksheets and practical activities to mention a few.
a. Survey/observation is an informal method of collecting data on student opinion, attitudes and/or confidence in understanding of the topic. The data can be gathered during class or outside class.

Questions may be time consuming and need to rephrased (difficult to understand).

C. Explain how different assessment methods can be adapted to meet individual learner needs
The students’ ability to learn, to interpret and to process knowledge varies according to their prior knowledge, experience and health condition. So that different students require varying degrees of assessment and assistance. For example, for the students with dyslexic or visual impairment, we could adapt multiple choice questions with colour paper and large font size in formal assessment and questioning (pose, pause and pick) and discussion method of assessment in an informal assessment because they prefer to talk their learning instead of reading and written assessments. Using all four methods of learning and assessment, VAKT (Visual, Audio, Kinaesthetic and Tactile), maximize learning outcome and meets individual learners’

According to Freedom of Information Act (2000) students have right to see/ to communicate the assessment information with the staffs. Awarding bodies such as Edexcel, Gateway, City &Guilds etc. check the assessments procedures and students achievement so that, it must be assessed according to the requirement criteria. The Skills Funding Agency and The Care Quality Commission (CQC) also assess the student progress/achievement and the quality of documentations (Data Protection Act, 1988) respectively. Therefore, it must be kept in secure and safe with fully information that proves the learning and assessment took place
