She changed me totally to a playful yet a hardworking woman. Her teaching skills and technics to push her students to a higher level was powerful. Without her guidance that time, I don’t think I would be here now. “Teaching is a very noble profession that shapes the character , caliber, and future of an individual. Education serves as a constituent upon which we construct ourselves as a society politically, socially and economically. However, the extent of a good education varies depending on one’s circumstantial influences. Students often find themselves accepting a romanticized outlook on what they are told defines a good education. In the classroom, pupils find themselves blindly memorizing formulas, reciting phrases and mind jotting dates and times to no avail. A good education comprises an ongoing conversation between student and teacher wherein a desire is incited to explore creative avenues with the informational foundation provided.…

Teachers teaching and the students humbly listening to what they are teaching, as under provocation from others is what leads people to think that the teacher is the dominant and the student merely as the processor. The visualization of students yielding themselves to their own thoughts and ideas and only accepting that of what the teacher presents to them. As society evolves in the 21st century, one can easily evaluate the slow decline in the education system and how it has failed students. Universities are creating senseless robots in students without his/her's own morals or values: bearing only remnants of their professors' values. Colleges and Universities supply students with information and knowledge about, how to follow instructions, read and regurgitate information and, in the 21st century, how to run a business. Our education is so essential to us, it decides our future and can determine our outcome in life, which first needs a solid learning foundation. The education system needs to instead create leaders in society who can think using their own morals and knowledge and allocate the necessary tools needed to become a well-rounded person.…

I am very grateful for those who have influenced me over my high school years whether it be my teachers, advisors, parents, or friends. Although all have had a great impact on my life at some point, I have to say the person who had the biggest significance on my life was easily my 8th grade teacher, National Honor Society Advisor, and mentor: Mrs. Mindi Phelps. Having first met her as my 8th grade English teacher, I did not know how much this woman would mean to me now, as a senior in high school. She believed in me and pushed me out of my comfort zone, was there for all my successes, as well as my failures, and still is to this day even though she moved to Florida at the end of my junior year. I first met Mrs. Phelps at the beginning of my 8th grade year as my English teacher.…

In the pre-professional age, skills for teaching were acquired through practical apprenticeship, learned by watching others, and once an individual learned how to teach, the teacher was seen as mastering the profession (Hargreaves, 2000). Professionally, when a teacher was no longer working as an apprentice, feedback was eliminated and interactions with colleagues halted, leaving a teacher on their own (Hargreaves, 2000). Further learning, according to Hargreaves (2000), was acquired through trial-and-error within the confines of isolated classrooms. In the 1960s, the age of the autonomous professional, Hargreaves (2000) claims that individualism was a common characteristic of teaching, as teachers continued to teach in isolation, separated from their…

Although teaching is a field that is extremely rewarding, it also comes with its share of challenges. These challenges can be overcome, however, if the teacher believes in their students ability to learn, and is able to inspire and motivate them. The teacher can accomplish this task through motivating the students through lessons, tests, and a positive classroom environment. If the teacher is fully committed to their student’s best interests, the classroom will ultimately succeed, even if there are challenges along the way.…
