Description Of East Sac

Improved Essays
I grew up in Sacramento, California in a neighborhood more specifically called East Sac. My neighborhood is known for the houses in the Fab 40s which I lived in. The Fab 40s is known for big beautiful houses out of a movie and being an extremely safe neighborhood. One of my favorite places in East Sac is my grandma’s house. That is because this is a place that I went to everyday during my childhood. She lived two blocks away from me on 45th St. Her house was big and green and had a pool and holds many of my childhood memories. These include Easter egg hunts with change in the eggs, hot summer days playing in the pool, fun adventures in my sisters and mine “clubhouse” really just an area under a group of trees that we would play in. During the 1980's, after working all week for the Houston County school system as a teacher, Alton Mattox would go down to Sewell Circle Park and open up the Deloris Tolliver Memorial Center. At the center you could play board games, shoot pool, etc.; and on Friday and Saturday nights there would be a dance. The center gave a lot of us something to do and kept us off the streets and out of trouble. Mr. Mattox was well respected by all who attended and what he said was final. He would always listen and offer his advice if you ever needed to talk and he would also chastize you if needed.…

My Michigan Hero Essay If I had to describe how I feel the only way I can is by saying that I feel like a pane of glass that's been shattered and put back together with ductape that doesn't stick, or like I'm drowning in my own depression. One person has always been able to bring me back to a little bit happier state, that person is my 53 year old grandpa who is also a tow truck driver, a semi driver, and a fireman. My grandpa has always been special to me because no matter what I do or how I feel he can manage to put a smile on my face. I remember going to my grandpa's "adopted" parents (Flourence and Neal's) house which also happens to be who he works for when he's driving tow trucks.…

My dad, uncle, aunt, and a couple of family friends did softball at Alpha Park once a week in the afternoon. My cousin, Jordan, would always be there. During the games, we would play “house” or “the invisible game” or we would simply walk around wanting to pet all the dogs. On some occasions, although rare, my cousin, Brandon, would take Jordan and I to the playground equipment. On this day, Jordan and I were probably playing one of our usual games.…

Nonetheless, their quarrel lasted about fifteen minutes, and it took my mother calling my grandfather over our house to settle things down. However, by that time my grandfather got to our house my brother had already called my father. Once my grandfather got to our house, my mother broke down crying, and my grandfather took my brother to his room to talk some sense into him. Furthermore, my mother wiped her eyes and told me that I should be happy that they were getting back together. “What about me, my school, and my birthday that is coming up in a few weeks?”…

I am your English 12 teacher and I like to make things. I can’t think of anything more fulfilling than imagining a great tree fort, then gathering the materials and building a special refuge for me and my friends. Over the years I’ve built sheds, fences, decks, boats, guitars, catapults, barges and barns. The thrill of seeing something from my imagination coming to life and taking its place in the real world makes me feel powerful and alive. Through the things that I make, other people get a chance to experience what I’ve dreamt.…

Growing up in the late 80s through the 90s seemed like such a long time ago. I grew up in a one story house which consisted of myself, my mother, older brother and sister. I was the baby of the family so evenings consisted of arguments with my siblings, dinner, and followed by sports or playing outside. On Fridays after school, I would head to the west side of Columbus for the weekend to spend time with my father, grandmother and other paternal relatives that lived nearby. I loved the time I spent out west with my father.…

Everyone has their fair share of drinking stories and they all vary from funny, sad, or stupid. My first time drinking with friends is a good mix of all three. We can blame it all we want on being young and stupid but looking back I think of it as a good time and an opportunity to learn a lesson. Almost everyone there dealt with the repercussions of our actions and somewhat regret what we did. Deciding to drink after our junior homecoming led to us getting suspended from sports for a week, two months of counselor meetings, and a bad reputation for a while if not the rest of high school.…
