Narrative Essay On A Scar

A scar that I have is the time that my dogs got into fight in the backyard. This is a scar because in my opinion it was one of the scariest and most traumatic things I have ever seen. My dogs had gotten into a fight with one another and it led to a lot of blood and even one of my dogs dying a couple days later. This scar is probably one that reaches all of the sensory details whereas most of my other physical scars don’t have much backstory to them besides being a burn. It all started on the last day of my spring break of my senior year of high school. I was woken up by my mom in a panic to the sound of her banging on my door fast and violently. I opened the door to have her tell me the dogs were fighting in the back yard and that she could …show more content…
I got home that day and the smell was weird it did not smell like my usual house. I checked on my dog and he looked like he was in pain and I could just see the sorrow in his eyes when he had a hard time lifting his head to look at me. The next day was kind of the same thing he was still struggling, but he was getting better he actually managed to stand up and walk around a bit kind of slow, but it was progress none the less. We did notice that he wasn’t eating very much and was only drinking a little bit of water so we began to worry for him. The next day when I had gotten up for school my mom was knocking on my door I opened the door still half asleep as I was rubbing the little bit of crust out of my eyes. My mom had told me that our dog had passed away around 3 A.M that he was making a faint noise as if a cry and that her and my dad went in the room with him and sat with him until he was gone. I went to see him and say my goodbye as my heart was broken and tears started to roll down my face I had just gone through the most traumatic and scarring 4 days of my life. Witnessing that event had a huge effect on me for a while and still affects me to this day in small ways. It still hurts me to talk about this scar especially if I think too much about it. This was my scar and the story of how it all

“The Scar”, by Kildare Dobbs, is a moving, emotional account of the bombing of Hiroshima, Japan. The author creates interest as well as suspense by using two storylines. One follows the experiences of a 15 year old Japanese girl, Emiko. The other, in great contrast, follows the story of an American co-pilot, Captain Robert Lewis, who was aboard the Enola Gay, a US Air Force B-29, that carried the first operational atom bomb. Throughout the narrative, the author switches back and forth between these two accounts which creates situational irony as the reader experiences both sides of the story, however, the two characters remain unaware of each other.…

Joseph Campbell studied ancient greek mythology. After studying, the American Mythologist, Writer, and Lecturer, discovered that heroes in almost every story follow this same path called the Heroic Journey. He figured this out by seeing that all the heroes go through stages. For example, they refuse, they have tests/allies/enemies, and they are rewarded at the end of their journey. Everybody is a hero in their own story if you think about it.…

They call them “Tap-taps,” the brightly painted open back trucks that transport passengers through the dusty streets of Haiti. A traveler taps the side of the vehicle to board, pays, rides and then taps to jump off at a desired destination. For one particular man who sat with his face covered by a towel, that destination was the Diegue clinic in Port-au-Prince. All I knew from intake was that this patient was here for a foot issue. I noticed the adult sitting uncomfortably, a towel wrapping his foot, as his eyes scanned around the room.…

How do life experiences shape our values? A way life experiences shape our values is when we run away from a problem and later learn something, good or bad, from it. In Tom Sawyer, Tom runs away because he thinks nobody loves him and later learns they do but in their own way. In “Abuela Invents the Zero”, Constancia runs from her grandmother and the fact she is related to her, later she learns she should care about her. An example from my life is when I did something that made my mother scared and I ran inside because I was afraid of getting yelled at, later I knew not to do something like that.…

I was smiling the whole time as the skin around my neck was being ripped off. Well I wasn’t actually smiling and as brutal as I made it sound, it wasn’t as horrific an event now that I look back on it. The incident occurred while I was on Spring Break during my freshman year in high school. My family and I were vacationing in Gatlinburg, Tennessee;which if I might add we’ve been there about eight times since I was seven years old. I remember clearly that day down to the exact temperature.…

I am the youngest son of my mother’s six children. My experience with alcoholism begins in that I being forty seven years old, grew up watching my mother and father drink every day from as far back as I can remember. Alcohol seemed to be a part of everything we did from a weekend picnic at the park, to going to see the grandparents, someone drinking and getting drunk was the norm for me since a very young age. By the time I was eight, drinking had drove a wedge between my parents and they were heading down an ice covered slope towards divorce court. My parents separated, and for many years my mother was always at a tavern.…
