But the universe was looking out for me. As they are waiting for the paddy wagon, their supervisor pulls up and orders them to let me go. All three officers immediately take offense with her order, and they start listing all the charges they are going to press and how I pretty much deserve to go to jail that night. But the female officer doesn 't lose her cool, #latinagirlmagic, she calmly stated that: 1) I didn 't match the description of the perp they were looking for. The perp was a black male, 5 ' 5" to 5 ' 10" tall, between the ages of 13 to 17, with cornrows. I was 25, 6 ' 2" with a crew cut. 2) None of the items on my person are illegal and there 's no connection or proof they have been used in a crime and 3) None of the officers, had their badges out and they failed to identify themselves before tackling me to the ground. They begrudgingly let me

Stereotyping Minority Groups The video “Ten Rules for Dealing with Police” shows three cases in which three minorities were suspected of criminal activity when being questioned or pulled over by law enforcement. Police often believe because they are the law, they have special privileges and try to assert their dominance if their boundaries are overstepped. Many African American communities allege that the police routinely use excessive force against members of minority populations (Wintersmith, 1974). During the last years, the grotesque and routine police violence against African Americans has provoked several civil problems like the great Los Angeles riots.…

Did you know that 32 percent of black people killed by an officer this year was unarmed? Then follows white people with 15 percent, hispanics and latinos with 25 percent, and standing fairly next to blacks is Native American? In a assay published by The Guardian there are other facts, for example for every one thousand person that is killed, only one officer is convicted of a crime (The Guardian). This is a recurring issue happening among us everyday, which defeats the whole purpose of the bill of rights in the U.S Constitution. The police exists not to abuse, but to help the public by enforcing the law appropriately.…
