It’s unclear as to which brain hemisphere is the “best”. Although, when beginning to look closely at each you will see left-brain dominant people are much more logical than right-brained dominant people. It is incredible how easily they are able to figure out “how”, and are completely competent in processing the information quickly and sufficiently. This assists them significantly. They are wielded with a vast amount of useful characteristics including linear thinking, able to pay attention to details, one-at-a-time processing, and are great at proofing (McGinty).…
Kolb’s Learning Style Course Requirement for Deed 600: Advanced Studies of the Developmental Learner By Tameka Miller Presented to: Dr. Reubenson Wanjohi October 18, 2015 Kolb’s learning style was developed in the early 1970’s by David A. Kolb and his associate Roger Fry. Kolb wanted to find out the process behind making sense of concrete experiences, along with the types of learning that goes with it. It is said the he models his work after Piaget, Dewey, and Lewin. Kolb’s profession was the study of organizational behavior.…
In this tutorial, I found it interesting that the brain has a right and left hemisphere and that each side appears to be the same but in realty have different specializations. I took the word recognition test and my results showed that I was primarily a right brain person.…
Learning Styles and Study Skills in the Classroom Why is it important for content teachers to "understand" the learning styles of both themselves and their students and to “teach” applicable study skills to students in their classes? Are there differences in study skills for English, history, science, and mathematics classes? If so, what are the comparisons? Learning Styles…
Two Styles of Educating Ones Self Education, is it strictly confined to the classrooms, or it is more than that. Can a person really learn more outside on their own, in Keith Gilyard’s “First Lesson”, he had already been educated on life before he had cut teeth. Learning can happen at any time if you try to educate yourself or if life feels like it’s time to be taught. Frederick Douglass explains in “How I Learned to Read and Write”, the ways in which he took education into his own hands and formed his own classroom throughout his daily life. These two authors show two distinct styles on how to educate yourself, rather your teacher is life choices or if your teacher is a Mr. or Mrs. Whether you perceive education as a burden or the holy grail it is important, because if you pay attention at the right moments you can learn amazing things from books or just your eyes.…
M1: Assess the impact of key influences on the personal learning processes of own learning Many factors have impacted on the way a I learn theses are learning style, access to resources, attitude, aspirations and motivation. GOAL SETTING Learning styles Learning styles is different ways to look at learning and it is usually based on your strengths, weaknesses and preferences. There are three styles of learning: Auditory, which is relating to hearing, visual, which is relating to seeing or sight and tactile, which is the connection of senses of touch. My learning style that got the highest for the quiz was tactile with 40% and the others, auditory and visual both 30%. This means it is easier for me to learn in hands on activities and using fine motor movement rather than listening to a teacher or watching a demonstration. The scores for the learning style quiz was very much even but I probably need to work on my visual learning and auditory learning because they were a bit lower than the other one.…
Learning Styles Studying is an important part of succeeding in one’s academic career. Certain methods of studying can make it more effective for certain students. These methods can be divided into three basic categories of learning styles: visual, auditory, and kinesthetic (Ezekiel, 2012). It’s possible for students to prefer one or even all of the learning styles.…
The hemispheres are used for similar yet different things. The general functions of the brain are broken down into five parts: vision, hearing, memory, language, and spatial ability. The left side is dominant in words and letters in the vision area, language sounds in the hearing area, and verbal memory in the memory area, and speech, grammar rules, reading, writing and arithmetic in the language area. The right side is dominant in geometric patterns, faces, and emotional expressions in the vision area, non-language sounds and music in the hearing…
Hello, After taking the Learning Connections Inventory, my overall score says I am a dynamic learner. Sequence: I scored a 32 and this is my Use First. I tend to use the sequence pattern a lot while at work.…
Through these tests I have learned my primary learning style, my top five strengths, and the level of my multiple intelligences. I learned that my main learning style is kinesthetic, so I learn more through doing and using my senses. Secondly, I learned that my top five strengths are group relations, integrator, believing, equalizer, and historian. Lastly, I learned the ranking of my multiple intelligences which are, from highest to lowest: interpersonal, kinesthetic, linguistic, logical, intrapersonal, visual/special, naturalistic, and musical. The only results I was surprised in seeing was having historian as a strength, since I don’t really find myself knowledgeable about history, the fact that knowing myself was such a low intelligence,…
If I were asked to explain learning to someone who has never taken this course I imagine my response would be far more insightful now than ever before. Prior to my enrollment in this course I would have probably alluded to the idea that learning can only be successful if you are a self-motivated person or if you reach out for help from as many people as you can to make it through a course that may seem difficult for you. I was also of the mindset that being a good learner or studier was either naturally in you or it wasn’t. I no longer have that same mind state as this course comes to an end. It has become very apparent to me that learning (good, bad, or indifferent) is done with intention or a lack thereof.…

In your own words explain what approaches to learning are and explain the three approaches used in the ASSIST. Learning, the acquisition of knowledge or skills through study or observation, is a fundamental skill required by humans to expand their knowledge in order to pursue future ambitions or increase their awareness. ASSIST (Approaches and Study Skills Inventory for Students), have created a survey which identifies an individual’s predominant learning approaches. These approaches include the deep approach, strategy approach, and surface approach. Each approach lists factors on how we study, and explores our preferred habitual ways of studying.…
Learning styles (M3) Physical (Kinaesthetic): Kinaesthetic is known as physical learners are people who prefer using their body, hands and sense of touch. For example in a science lesson some lessons learn from actually doing particle experiments instead of watching the teacher do the experiment. Visual-Spatial Visual-…
