1.) If you could take only one concept from your learning in this class to apply to your well-being, what would it be and why? (5 points)
If I could take only one concept I learned from this class to apply to my well-being would be mindfulness. At the beginning and the end of class, when we got to lie down and focus on our breathing, I tended to start thinking about the things that I need to do after class. Throughout the semester, I have gotten better at pushing away my worries and focusing on the present moment. That helps me to relax better and become more aware of my body and the environment.

2.) Describe two physical, mental and/or emotional insights, openings, or improvements

I get a little dizzy occasionally with pose such as the pigeon. Therefore, I like to hover my head above the floor and look forward.

3.) What two HOMEWORK tasks or experiments from your Journaling Packet were most successful for you since Short Essay #1? (5 points)
1) The first task is finding an area that I might be over-efforting and shift that effort. I am somewhat of a perfectionist and that brings a lot of unnecessary stress in my life. I feel like an area that I sometimes over-efforting is relationship. I overthink conversations and try to make everybody happy, which can be exhausting for myself and sometimes even others. Therefore, recently, I worked on letting go and have gotten better at not ruminating.
2) Another task is catching myself when my mind wander into the past or the future. I had to remind myself to slow down, take deep breaths and focus on them to bring my mind back to the present. Each time I was successful at doing that, I started to notice how I am feeling and became more aware of my surrounding.

4.) Pick two postures and describe: your physical focus/alignment in them; their effect on your breath; their effect on your mind. (5

The learning experience of Dr. Norward’s course, Generalist Social Welfare Practice, has allowed me to develop my interpersonal skills and feel more confident working with clients. I have faced many challenges and obstacles, but I have also learned a lot about myself as a student as well as a future social worker. This course has helped me to reignite my passion for activism, but also explore the sort of social work I wish to partake in such as becoming a broker for services. One of the biggest takeaways from the course was when I learned that social work should be seen as both a science and art, two areas that I am fascinated about. I also truly cherished the lecture of self care and have incorporated this into my daily life, but also with…

In the textbook, “Understanding Your Health”, I took a self-assessment that examined my health behavior. I scored a 559 overall, which meant that I had a relatively adequate health behavior. However, I think my score of 559 was on the lower side of the relatively adequate health behavior since the points ranged from 550 to 569. I was actually very close to the low health behavior score, which ranged from 330 to 549, as I was only 10 points away from a low health behavior score. This means that I should be more cautious about my lifestyle and try to make improvements in which I could live a more fulfilling and healthy life.…
