Barney Roth, an average high schooler, is very intelligent and believes that The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn should stay in school. Barney is friends with Luke and Kate. Luke enjoys teasing Kate often. Luke has the same opinion on the book as Barney, it should not be banned. Kate, however, has the complete opposite opinion. She is a feminist based on some of her arguments. Kate strongly believes The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn should be taken out of schools. Mr. Moore does this by proposing that The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn should be banned due to the offensive language used frequently in the book (the “n” word). The next step would be searching for supporters of the ban. If you get enough supporters on the ban you are more likely to be successful. Many of the teachers went against the ban of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, but a few students and parents were on board with the ban. Then, you would take the book to the school board to be decided on whether or not it should be banned.
