In this work I will address the main features of LGBT Scotland, for this, I will identify the work LGBT Scotland does and the main audience. Additionally, I will also discuss the values and purpose of LGBT Scotland. Finally, I will come to a conclusion.
LGBT Scotland is a youth organisation aimed at young people aged 13 – 25. Within this are two subgroups within this that split youths into an age range or 13 – 18 and 18 – 25. It’s a charity organisation who reaches out to young people from the LGBT community that reside in Scotland. Although you don’t have to be LGBT to participate as long as you are not disrespectful. It’s for anyone that wants to get involved and learn new things about the community in a safe space. LGBT Scotland is a mixture of youth groups, counselling, and drop-in services covering the whole of Scotland, and works with the young people, their families and community groups. …show more content…
To reduce the marginalisation and the exclusions felt by some young people from within their community. To help make their society a better place for LGBT people to live in. They talk about what it’s like to be a young person in Scotland who is LGBT and talk about this in a positive way. To try and move away from the negativities that may be in the media, or in the community in general as this can have a negative impact on young people. To empower young people and give them confidence. LGBT Scotland does this from running a short project spanning over a number of weeks, called a peer education
