Describe The Characteristics Of Being Successful At The Ymca

At the YMCA, there are very different people with many different characteristics that they bring to the table. However, the first very most important characteristic it would take to succeed at the YMCA, is patience. These children test my patience every single day. They are very back and fourth with their behavior, which in normal because they are children. There is no controlling them, so when they have rough days the best thing to do is do be patient and work it out with them. Other characteristics that are necessary for being successful at the YMCA are positive, encouraging, trustful, honest, supportive, open, kind, firm, fun, etc. I could go on and on about traits and characteristics that would be beneficial but these are the main ones that would promote positivity and a safe and healthy place to care for children while their parents are not able to. …show more content…
Playing with them, and making them feel important is a great way to incorporate safety and inclusiveness amongst the YMCA as a whole. Another thing that would be really beneficial when working at the YMCA is being educated. Knowing when children are in each developmental stage, and why they act the way they do. This helps you stay patient because this puts things into perspective that their brains are not near being fully developed, so this is why they make the decisions they make. Education also helps with what is best for the children developmentally while disciplining them, communicating with them, etc. The reason being because an educated FLE knows what is good for children’s development, and uneducated people can only guess at
