Voyager Group Project

For our Voyager Playlist we drew inspiration from different things. The theme we choose for our project is time periods in history. The time period we chose was 19th Century music. The reason we chose this time is because we felt that music was very much alive then. Our playlist is very diverse and we feel it shows a true representation of all the countries we chose.

The first song we chose to be on our list is from Kingston, Jamaica. The song is No

Los Tigres Del Norte is a nortena band that were discovered in 1968 in San Jose, California. Ever since then, and still today they have performed all over the world and have performed in various events. They are mostly known for their music. Their music can be about love, or a special lesson given to someone, or even just for fun. Los Tigres Del Norte are also known for putting out a good show. They all dress the same when they perform. it is something cultural within their group. However, every time they perform they always take out a couple of drinks, and drink with the audience. For our country in Mexico we decided to choose Los Tigres Del Norte only for a specific reason. During this time many Mexicans wanted to move to the united states for a better life. The united states was filled with new job, and it had education for many of their children. However, since they lived in Mexico, it was not going to be easy for them. There were some that would make it and others died in the desert on there was to the united states or they got caught by the police and got sent back home. The ones who made it to the united states were Immigrants. In this song played by Los Tigres Del Norte, a family and his kids had it to the united states. Their kids have good education and they have good jobs. The parents miss their culture back home and other family members, but they would never go back because they know that life in Mexico is hard. This song is called “La Jaula De Oro” meaning the cage Of Gold. In this song the instruments are different guitars, drums, and most important, their voice. This piece of music is homophonic, their voices with the instruments are consonant. It is easy to understand and the melody makes one want to
